I rode dirt bikes as a kid, but I didn’t get serious about the street until
2005. From that point in 2005, I was in search of my first Harley. It just
so happens that in 2005, a lady in the motorclothes was selling hers and I
bought it as soon as I set eyes on it. It was a yellow, 2001 883 Sportster
Hugger. By December of 2005 I wanted a bigger bike… It wasn’t until
December 2006 that I bought my pride and joy … my 2003 100th Anniversary
Road King. As of this writing, I have ridden 44,000+ miles on the Road King
alone and have never looked back. In May 2007 I became extremely serious
about motorcycle safety because I had worked to become a certified MSF
Instructor and teaching Basic and Experienced rider courses at
Bumpus/Whitten.
On to the next endeavor, and finding others who loved motorcycling as much
as I do. I never dreamed belonging to a HOG chapter could be so involved
and yet I cannot seem to get enough. I am a charter member of Ghost River
Chapter, joining in mid-November of 2007 and that was the day that changed
my life FOREVER.
The Ghost River Chapter has been addictive. The rides and the eating and
the activities were awesome, but still not enough for me as I wanted more.
So, my newest journey in 2008, destined to be a road captain, not knowing
Ghost River Chapter of Harley Owners Group
Collierville, Tennessee, USA - Number 1866
Assistant Director - Renee Simon
the first thing about it, I just knew I wanted to be one. So I became one. Then, in 2009 I kicked it up a notch and went for
the Head Road Captain spot. Got it. 2010 was no different than the previous 2 years as I accepted the title of Safety
Officer. OMG... do I not have a life? I never knew I would work so hard, sweat so much and laugh till I cried as much as I have
just from being a part of this GRC family. I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. Other than working and teaching, The
Ghost River Chapter family IS my life….
In 2011, I proudly pledge to work to the best of my abilities the tasks of the Assistant Director for the Ghost River HOG
Chapter and I look forward to riding, eating, laughing and fellowship with all our members, friends, guests and sponsors.
